The Natural World
There are photos all around us; Just step outside your door! I do love nature on a grand scale: sunsets, landscapes or mountains; but I also find beauty in the small gestures, like a leaf, a pebble or a reflection.
I do appreciate modern design. Particularly, I enjoy viewing objects from different angles and unusual points of view. It is essentially making art from art, which is a really wonderful way to appreciate the places where we live, work and play!
I've been taking pictures for as long as I can remember! My mom got me started with an Olympus semi-automatic for my high school graduation. Don't let the word "automatic" fool you, this kind of photography was manual focus, pick the right f-stop and choose shutter speed. Only then would you be ready to push the button. On top of all that, you only got 24 frames in a roll of film so you really had to make each one count!
Things have changed dramatically since then, but some things stay the same...I still manually focus, dial and set my camera myself to best reproduce the same image I am seeing with my eye. I guess I'll always be "old school" when it comes to controlling the camera.
I currently reside in Naperville, IL with my husband, son, kitty Indigo and rescue Papillon, Milford. When I'm not taking photos, I'm usually reading about photography or sleuthing out the next amazing place to shoot.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my work.
I hope you find it as much fun as I do.
